Grain Cleaning & Colour Sorting

Rotary cleaner, grader and aspiration system

We have installed a Marot PN1253 rotary cleaner grader and aspiration system into intake Pit 1, which is linked to our continuous flow dryer, capable of processing up to 80 tph.  In reality cleaning output is dictated by the sample quality and crop type.

The rotary cleaner enables us to remove a range of material from different crops including;

  • Rodent droppings and insects pests
  • Stones and admix
  • Screenings and light grains
  • Chaff, straw and pods
  • One crop from another (OSR in wheat)

This rotary cleaner enables us to increase the bushel weights of crops and remove potential contaminants that make grain unmarketable.  We are able to handle and process rejected loads for farmers and merchants.  We have purchased a range of slotted and round cleaning and grading screens to process oats, OSR, wheat, barley, peas and beans.  The cleaner includes a series of screens, with discharge chutes that can be closed or open to allow material to go the clean grain elevator or waste.

Optical Sorting – Nirami 3

In January 2023 we installed a Satake optical sorter. Our Nirami 3 optical sorter can operate at up to 15tph; however, this is dependent on the grain sample and level of contamination.

We have successfully removed ergot from wheat and barley and also removed insect damage from peas and beans.

The sorter uses 68 cameras to view the grain and identify colour variation in the commodity being processed.

It then uses multiple air jets to remove any contaminant that it identifies within the column of grain.

This is a state of the art machine and is also linked to the rotary cleaner and aspirator to improve samples prior to being sorted.
